Product of the Week Reviewed – Equerry Boomerang Dandy Brush

The Equerry Boomerang Dandy Brush contains fibre that is filled at an angle to provide a stiff brush in one direction and soft in the other. Product of The Week Review: HIBISCRUB WASH

Product Of The Week: NAF Leather Soft Soap
This week’s product of the week is the Leather Soft Soap and Sponge from Natural Animal Feeds (NAF). The Soft Soap is a unique, soft formula to clean and enrich leatherwork and effectively lifts dirt and grease whilst softening leather. A quality tack cleaning sponge is also included.
Application
Massage a small amount into the leather with a slightly dampened cloth or sponge. For a complete finish, allow to dry and polish surface of leather with a soft, dry cloth.
Tried and Tested
After riding my mare Cleo on a long hack in The New Forest I started tack cleaning, something I do after each and every ride to keep my leather work in good condition.
I had been given the Leather Soft Soap by a lady at the yard who had used it to do all of the tack cleaning at a competition stables in Dorset. The Leather Soft Soap from NAF came so highly recommended I promised to try it and I am very pleased that I did.
I used a clean sponge and a bucket of hot water to wash off the initial dirt and grease before using the sponge provided to take a small amount of the Leather Soft Soap and working it in to the leather. Almost immediately the leather of the bridle and saddle began to develop an impressive shine and felt supple to touch. Once complete the tack looked fantastic, clean and shining with the leather nourished and enriched.
Now a regular part of my cleaning routine I’m still impressed by the NAF Leather Soft Soap each time I use it. Thanks to only needing a small amount a single tub lasts a long time and doesn’t solidify in the colder weather making it easy to use all year round.
Final Thoughts
Over the years of tack cleaning I have used many different products and the Leather Soft Soap from NAF is certainly one of the best and my leatherwork looks and feels fantastic. The ease of use of this soft soap has made me want to spread the word to other horse owners that want to make the task of tack cleaning more enjoyable with great results!

Product Of The Week: 4 in 1 Anti-Bronchial Decongestant
This week’s product of the week is the 4 in 1 Anti-Bronchial Decongestant from Stable Environment. This multi action spray has been developed using Tea Tree and Eucalyptus pure essential oils, both of which act as natural decongestants. It helps to alleviate breathing problems and minimises dust in the coat and bedding. Stable Environment has also added natural conditioners which give the coat a healthy shine.
Application:
Apply liberally to the chest area and spray around bedding and walls. It is excellent for horses on box rest and is ideal for those being transported. Simply spray around boxes/trailers thus making breaking easier whilst being in a confined space.
Tried and Tested:
Having met the Stable Environment team at British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) International Show earlier this year I was keen to sample their natural products on my event mare Cleo before making them available to our customers through our online store. Although she is healthy and does not suffer from breathing problems, the product had a wonderful calming effect on her and left the stable smelling great thanks to the Tea Tree and Eucalyptus oils.
As well as spraying around Cleo’s bedding and walls of the stable I also added a generous amount to a bucket of boiling water which I covered loosely and placed safely out of her way in the corner of the stable. This allowed the vapours to evaporate in to the air filling the box with the calming Tea Tree and Eucalyptus. When I returned 20 minutes later the stable smelt wonderful and Cleo was very calm and relaxed.
Mucking out the following morning I saw the benefit as the stable was less dusty and by spraying some more of the product directly onto the straw bedding it helped to mask that nasty urine smell really well.
Final Thoughts:
Prior to travelling to our next competition I shall be sure to spray the inside of our trailer to create that lovely calming atmosphere as well as using the 4 in 1 Anti-Bronchial Decongestant a couple of times a week in boiling water and sprayed around the box to minimise dust and make the stable smell nice.
